How to Play Klondike Solitaire
Klondike is the classic version of Solitaire. The goal is to move all 52 cards to four foundation piles, sorted by suit from Ace to King.
Klondike Solitaire Setup
The game has seven tableau columns. The first column contains one card, the second contains two, and so on. Only the top card of each column begins face up. The remaining cards form the stock.
How to Win
Complete all four foundations by building each suit upward in this order: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen and King.
Tableau Rules
- Build tableau columns downward in rank.
- Cards must alternate color: red on black and black on red.
- You can move a single card or a correctly ordered sequence of face-up cards.
- Only a King, or a sequence beginning with a King, can fill an empty column.
- A face-down card turns over when it becomes the top card of its column.
Stock and Talon
- Click the stock to deal cards to the talon.
- In Draw 1, one card is dealt at a time.
- In Draw 3, up to three cards are dealt at a time.
- Only the top card of the talon can be played.
- When the stock is empty, click it to return the talon cards to the stock.
Foundation Rules
- Each foundation begins with an Ace.
- Foundations build upward by rank in the same suit.
- Double-click a playable top card to send it to a foundation.
